SAM CAMPAIGN REPORT IN BUSABALA VILLAGE. Jan 2026

On 10.01.2026 Scouts reached out to a village near the lake and sensitised communities about Malaria. This was helpful because the number of teenage mothers is on the increase due to high school drop out rates and the fact that there is no secondary school in the area. As soon as children finish primary section, they just dont continue with school and end up getting involved in different harmful behaviours.

-The second reality is that there is no government health Centre where the community can go to for medical attention incase of sickness.

Achievements.

-Sensitisation was properly done with the help of the women leaders and the local council chairperson.

-We were able to reach out and distributed 150 Treated Mosquito nets.

-We also discussed about how to prevent Malaria:

-keeping the surrounding of our homes free of stagnant water where mosquitoes lay their eggs,

Closing the windows of our homes before night time.

Seeking medical attention when one feels sick for proper prescription.

-Most importantly sleeping under a Mosquito net.

We also Discussed why alot of emphasis is put on children below 5 years and expectant mothers because they are at risk of losing lived due to malaria.

-We promised to also support the teenage mothers with nutritious food which can help them to have enough breastmilk to feed their babies.
